\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nSurah Bani Israel \r\n (Children of Israel)
\r\n
\r\n [aka. Al-Isra (the Ascension)]
\r\n Chapter 17: Verse 54Translation:
\r\nYour Lord knows \r\n you best. He will have mercy on you if He wills and chastise you if He \r\n wills. We have not charged you, (O Muhammad), to be an overseer over them.
\r\nCommentary:
\r\nThe believers should never \r\n go about bragging that they are going to enter Paradise, \r\n or cockily name other persons or groups as the ones destined to enter \r\n Hell. For it is God alone Who has the authority to decide such matters. \r\n It is He alone Who fully knows about all human beings, about all things \r\n both apparent and hidden, which took place before or which will take place \r\n in the future. It is He alone Who will judge, He alone Who will decide \r\n to whom He should show mercy \r\n and whom He should punish. \r\n
\r\nAll that a human being can say, enunciating the teachings \r\n of the Quran, is what kind of people deserve \r\n mercy, and what kind deserve punishment. No one has the \r\n right to categorically say that a particular person will be either chastised \r\n or pardoned by God.
\r\nPresumably this directive was occasioned \r\n by the constant oppression to which the Muslims were subjected \r\n by the unbelievers. For some of the former may have been tempted to say \r\n of their more cruel opponents that they would be consigned to Hell or \r\n that God would chastise them for their behaviour.
\r\nA Messenger’s mission \r\n is simply to invite people to the right way. The destinies \r\n of people have not been placed in his hands, nor has he been empowered \r\n to sit in judgement over them, deciding who should be cast into Hell and \r\n who should be shown mercy.
\r\nThe observation made here does not imply that the Prophet \r\n (peace be upon him) had committed such a lapse and that this needed to \r\n be pointed out to him. The purpose of the statement is rather to warn \r\n the generality of Muslims against adopting such an attitude. \r\n For if even the Prophet (peace be upon him) does not have the authority \r\n to judge who deserves Hell and who deserves Heaven, then how \r\n can ordinary Muslims be justified in making these decisions.

\r\n"If \r\n you relied on Allah with a true reliance, He would provide for \r\n you the same as He provides birds: they set off in the early \r\n morning with empty stomachs and return back at the end of the \r\n day with full stomachs."
\r\n
\r\n [At-Tirmidhi, Ahmad]Sh. Fadl Ilaahi said: "The \r\n one who relies upon Allah with a true reliance is provided for \r\n as birds are provided for, and how would it be otherwise, when \r\n he has relied upon the Ever-Living who does not die, and whoever \r\n relies on Him, He will suffice him." \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\ncontinued from issue 183 ...
\r\n3. Try beating \r\n mom's cooking
\r\nWhile most moms ask their kids what \r\n they want to eat, turn the tables around and do the \r\n same for her. Is there special food your mom likes? \r\n Buy or prepare that food for her (if you are not the \r\n best of cooks, maybe it's safer to just buy it).
\r\n4. Is your \r\n mom in a nursing home
\r\nIf your mom is in a nursing home, \r\n why not plan to bring her home for a weekend visit \r\n to stay with you. Even better, why not make this a \r\n weekly, or twice a month set up, so you can spend \r\n more time with her and she can be around those who \r\n really love her more often? Of course the ultimate \r\n gift will be if you can liberate her from that nursing \r\n home so she can stay in her room in your own home. \r\n
\r\n5. Arrange \r\n a mammogram for her
\r\nEvery three minutes, a woman in America \r\n is diagnosed with breast cancer. That woman could \r\n be your mom.
\r\nA woman's chances of developing breast \r\n cancer increases with age. The National Cancer Institute \r\n recommends women age 40 and over be screened with \r\n mammography every one to two years. It also advises \r\n that women at higher risk of breast cancer get medical \r\n advice before they are 40 about when to begin screening \r\n and about the frequency of their screening. Do this \r\n for your mom, so you can see her spend the rest of \r\n her life in good health, Insha Allah (if God wills). \r\n
